Arcade
Overview
An Arcade is a series or arches held up by columns or piers. This design can stretch for great distances and carry heavy loads because of its design. It was first used in the Roman aqueducts and then was used in the Colosseum. For church architecture it was used in the Romanesque and Gothic styles.[2]
